We're in Recovery Mode

Three b-nuts.

Recovery Mode by Tim Meakins opens this week at Jacky Winter Gallery, coinciding with our fearless (but very much flu-afllicted) leader Jeremy's worst bout of being sick since covid hit. Whether you're feeling a bit under the weather, a bit over this week or just a bit like a scroll, join us for a bit of recovery mode as we take you through this week's JW news:

You're Invited: Recovery Mode by Tim Meakins

‘Recovery Mode’ by Tim Meakins (@tim__meakins) is opening this Friday, Oct 17 at 6–9pm and we'd love for you to join us for some Friday night recovery!

Spanning sculpture, 3D modelling, VR-based drawing, animation, and 3D printing, this new solo show explores the intersection of inward compulsion and outward expectation to continuously produce and perform. Examining exertion, exhaustion, and the amplification of the human body, Tim's work investigates physicality in the context of restless pursuit — where achievements quickly dissolve, replaced by the desire for more.

Lauren Martin works on a 3B milestone

@laurenmartin_studio worked with Instagram to create this piece in celebration of the platform hitting 3 billion users! 🤯

Inspired by Garfield, Looney Tunes and the art of Richard Scarry, Lauren says “I wanted to celebrate the community I’ve found on Instagram from all over the world, who inspire my creative process – from DMing me ideas of new things to draw, to tagging friends in comments who remind them of my illustrations.”

Karan Singh's Wondrous Planet

@madebykaran made some wondrous artwork for @melbournemuseum, forming part of its new “Our Wondrous Planet” multisensory gallery. The gallery is the biggest exhibition in Muesums Victoria history, taking visitors through the world 4 billion years in the making. Pop in to see Karan's piece IRL!

Mark Conlan Magic
